Not sure about couples therapy?
If your partner sent you this link, this page is for you. No sales pitch, just straight answers to fair questions.
Being skeptical is allowed
You might be reading this because your partner asked you to. Maybe therapy sounds like a place where you get blamed for an hour. Maybe it sounds like something for couples in real trouble, which you’re not. Or maybe talking to a stranger about your relationship just sounds awful.
Those are reasonable worries. I’d rather answer them honestly than talk you out of them.
What I will not do
- Take sides
- Two against one is not therapy. I work for the relationship, and my job is the pattern between you, not a verdict on either of you.
- Hand out blame
- I start from a simple idea: both of you make sense once your story is understood. Nobody gets cast as the problem.
- Make you perform
- You choose what you say. If you need to sit back and listen for the first while, that is a fine way to start.
- Lock you in
- There’s no contract and no set number of sessions. We check in about whether this is helping, and you can stop anytime.
Fair questions, straight answers
Doesn’t needing therapy mean we’re failing?
Usually the opposite. Most couples live with a painful pattern for years before anyone asks for help. Asking early tends to mean you still have a lot worth protecting.
What actually happens in a session?
We slow the same old argument down until each of you can hear what the other actually means. Sessions are 75 minutes, on secure video, from wherever you’re comfortable. You can even join from separate rooms.
How much does it cost?
$195 for a 75-minute session, and most couples start weekly. The first call is 15 minutes, free, with no obligation after it. All the fee and insurance details are here.
What if I try it and it’s not for me?
Then you say so. We talk about what would work better, including a different therapist, or none at all. No hard sell, and no guilt about it.
One small, reversible step
You don’t have to be sold on therapy. You just have to be willing to spend fifteen minutes finding out what it would actually be like. Come with your partner, or ask me the hard questions on your own.
And if you’d rather sit with this for a while first, that’s okay too. This page isn’t going anywhere.
